Chris Decker
Trust Officer
Chris Decker is a Trust Officer for Darwin Trust Company. He brings an entrepreneurial and problem-solving approach to managing trusts and an extensive investment background. While he isn’t a lawyer, he has worked with legal documents for most of his career.
Before joining Darwin, Chris served for 15 years as an independent trustee for a charitable remainder trust. He has also worked in both commercial real estate development and residential real estate investing, including as CFO for a life science venture. Before that, he was a 15-year high-yield and corporate bond fundamental research analyst. Chris helped start State Street Global Advisors’ high-yield bond product line, built the fundamental research function supporting Textron’s insurance and pension investments, and installed financial models for managing Unum Group’s private equity energy partnerships, working with general partners’ controllers and CFOs. Chris began his career at Gardner and Preston, Moss Inc., a Boston institutional and wealth management firm.
Chris has been a past president and treasurer of the Sherborn Community Center and a New Life Furniture Bank of MA volunteer. He is also a 25-year-plus cyclist in the 2-day Pan-Mass Challenge, raising funds for Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
